Excercises for a Stronger Golf Swing

Have you ever wondered where the power in your golf swing comes from? Is it from your arms? If you are like many people who try to power the ball with your arms then you still have a great ways to go in your game. Power behind your golf swing comes from you entire body, and involves primarily rotational movement.

Once you have perfected your golf swing, and are using good form, you can begin to use a weighted golf club in order to help improve your power from the tee. The same thing can be done with a medicine ball. Get a 4 to 6 pound ball and rotate to the left and right, and you should see a huge improvement in your rotational strength, and explosiveness.

Increasing strength is a great way to improve your golf swing. However, it isn’t the only thing that will help your golf game greatly. Stabilizing your trunk for better rotation will also lead to a stronger golf swing.

Stand straight up with your arms crossed at your shoulder level with your weight distributed equally on both legs. Shift your weight to your left foot, and move your right foot one step back. Once your right foot is firmly positioned rotate your upper body towards the supporting leg. Next you should shift your weight to your right foot while rotating your upper body towards the supporting foot. This should be done with good posture which means not leaning forwards, or backwards.

Strength and stability will lead to a stronger golf swing. If you train both aspects of your swing you will be driving the ball further than ever before.
